Struggling in the woods
Where to begin? The struggle of the run, the Fitness app not tracking correctly, or my over analyzation. Let’s keep it simple. Today the goal was to run 10 miles and I struggled to complete it. I woke up early, started my stretching routine then hit the paths. The first 3 miles went fine but I suddenly stopped midway to my fourth for no reason. I didn’t feel tired, but I did feel gassed. I started to focus on my pace as I watched more seasoned runners pass me. This got me as I greatly want to improve my pace. I stopped numerous times, some for water and a gel pack, others for feeling tired. I was not enjoying the run I was over thinking it. I’d hoped GG#4 would have helped me stay focused, but it didn’t show up to the party. I felt pain in my right calf and knee as well as anxiety. I had dry mouth towards the end of the 3rd mile, but that could have been because of hydration.
I continue to have random issues with the Apple Fitness app. Sometimes it uses auto-detect on my runs and sometimes it doesn’t. Today wasn’t one of them. At about the 7th mile, I looked down at my watch and it was paused. The app missed an entire mile of my showing I only ran 9 miles when I ran 10. Luckily, I enabled the Nike run app that captured my 10 miles. This is a minor detail but nonetheless, it is still annoying.
