Something's off

The Chicago half marathon is just about two weeks away and I continue to struggle on the paths. Today the weather got to the high 70s as the harsh sun toasted anyone who ventured out. So, I sprayed on sunscreen, laced up my Brooks, and hit the pavement. The goal was to have a fun run but sadly, I did not enjoy it. I was more focused on my pace that I pushed too hard too fast.  I had the Chicago half marathon in the back of my mind as I thought about how much faster it would be. I started off strong at 1.5 miles then I stopped, I felt gassed. This was frustrating because I know I have run faster and longer before. I still can’t figure out why I keep stopping.  Today I ran 3.01 miles, and it was challenging. I also forgot to set the Apple workout app halfway into my run but luckily I set the Nike app.

GG#4…gave a slight head high for a short time. I felt pain in my back making it harder for me to run. My mind was focused but not calm. I was worried about my pace and being too slow. I did feel a lot of dry mouth, but I did not feel any anxiety.

“Never give up and keep trying to improve.
