Not so easy

A light drizzle covered paths as warm temperatures crept in reaching the low 70s. Cool breezes blew over the Busse Woods in the late afternoon. Today the goal was to practice a tempo run for 3 miles. So, I laced up my Brooks, took a long hit of GG#4, and hit the paths. A head-high kicked in quickly as I navigated my way up the paths and through the woods. A half mile in, I pushed my legs faster as my mind began to wander. I started to focus on how I wasn’t as fast as others. This did not make it fun to run. I second-guessed myself as I tried to find my rhythm. After the first mile, I was able to settle in and focused on letting my training take control. Today I ran 2.25 miles, and it was tough. GG#4 worked too well giving me anxiety quickly but easing after some time. I felt no pain in my legs or knees, but I did have a lot of dry mouth.

I am starting to get nervous before my runs and I am not sure why...
