Long run
My simple mistake became a learning experience as I continued to train for the Chicago half marathon. The temperature rose to the mid-70s with sunshine and blue skies. The decision to finish my long run played in my mind as the holiday weekend began to fill up. I chose to complete it today at the last minute. This caused me to scramble to gather my gear and hit the paths. Once I got to the woods I took a hit of my live resin, put on my workout clothes, then realized I forgot my Apple watch (oops). So, I headed back when dry mouth kicked in. This is huge for me because this has slowed me down. At first, I thought it could have been the humidity, but I can confirm that it’s the strain.
Once I had all my gear, I set off through the Busse woods. Today I ran 8.15 miles, and it was great. I took my time focusing on distance not pace. I felt I could have run faster, and I believe I did but I also slowed my pace trying to enjoy the run. GG#4 gave me a gentle head high. My mind was calm and focused. As I said earlier, this strain gave me a lot of dry mouth. Additionally, I felt pain in my right calf and back. My right calf felt tight but not painful. I felt no anxiety or stress.
“Keep striving to be successful!”
