Hot Air
With the air quality almost at 210, it was an easy decision to take my run indoors. From my understanding, the smoke from wildfires in Canada has created tiny particles which are dangerous for the lungs. In addition to the particles, the visibility conditions were terrible. It looked as if there was a constant thin layer of smoke as far as my eyes could see. So, I laced up my Brooks, took a hit of Gelato, and headed to the gym. Funny enough, I had to keep the window open in the gym because it was humid and hot. The fans are pointed downward not creating circulation, which in this case, was good.
My run was short but sweet. I ran 2.7 miles and wanted to run more. The heat got to me as I prayed for a gentle breeze to blow in. It did not take long for my legs to warm up as I tried to adjust my posture. I hoped Gelato would have taken my mind off the humidity, but it didn’t. I felt pain in my upper right thigh in the beginning as well as pain in my lower back. My mind was focused on moving my legs and picking up my feet. Even with these challenges I still enjoy my run and I’m excited for my next one.
“Keep smiling and keep smoking.”
